Android started dominating the mobile phone market as early as 2010, a lot of manufacturers went on to port their version of Android on their smartphones. It was Nokia who did not bow down to Android Operating System and rather preferred to make Windows based smartphones. Rumors are now suggesting that Nokia is finally making its way to port Android OS on one of its smartphones codenamed as Normandy. This smartphone is going to be a low end entry level smartphone.
Nokia Normandy- Android smartphone
The phone first got its share of leak back in November which a lot of people ignored considering it to be the low budget Asha phone. There were multiple leaks in the last couple of weeks about the same product which hints at it to be an Android smartphone.
Nokia is popular for making tough and durable phones, we all remember the Nokia 3310 and Nokia 1100 the older basic phones. Phones like Lumia 520, Lumia 1020, Lumia 925 in the Lumia series, Nokia has not really let down the buyers, it has maintained the tough and sturdy design on them. A lot of Nokia lovers wanted to see a Nokia device running Android OS, there are online forums where Nokia users are requesting the developers to make a Nokia compatible Android OS and that later it can be ported on devices like Nokia N8, Nokia N9 and N900. Eventually none of this happened.
Reports also suggest that Nokia is working on the Normandy phone long before the Nokia-Microsoft deal, if some rumors are to be trusted Nokia has already made 10,000 units of the Normandy phone. Before the complete acquisition takes place we at least get to see one Nokia device with Android OS.
