Apple soon to face competition from budget 64-bit phones

Snapdragon Processor

Apple is the first to introduce 64-bit processors on smartphones; the company has this processor in its latest iPhone 5s, iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display. Samsung, who makes processor chips for Apple, recently announced that it will come with its own version of a 64-bit processor and install the same on its devices.

This however will serve to limited audience only and not everyone would be able to experience the power of a 64-bit smartphone. But that’s not the case anymore as Qualcomm has announced the production of 64-bit processor which is aimed at budget smartphones under $150 category (about Rs 10,000).

This processor is not a very high end processor unlike the one Samsung is making. Samsung’s 64-bit processor is likely to have support for 2K display and 4K video recording but the budget variant 64-bit will support 1080p for both playback and recording.
Snapdragon Processor

Qualcomm has named this processor as Snapdragon 410, it is based on 28nm process and it will have support for up to 3 SIM cards. Snapdragon 410 will also support Adreno 306 GPU and 13MP camera along with 4G LTE and NFC. With 4G LTE and 64-bit processing power in a budget smartphone it is likely to make a good debut but this development is surely going to impact the sales of budget smartphones in the market which do not have 4G LTE on board.
